It
has been 2 years that I have been studying Putonghua with Kent and I feel
I have improved a great deal since my very first day which I remember
involved Kent teaching me how to pronounce ping yin. At my current stage I
can understand some basic conversations and recognise some Chinese
characters, although I still have a long way to go in learning and writing
them. I currently want to improve my conversational skills and hope to
take the opportunity to speak more with my work colleagues.
I am very happy with Kent’s teaching skills, having him as a teacher and
a good friend - I see myself continuing to learn with Kent in the
foreseeable future. Maybe in another 2 years this testimonial will be in
Chinese?

I arrived in Hong Kong in March 2006 and signed up to learning mandarin a month later. I have 2 one-hour lessons a week and had no previous experience of the language.
Kent is an enthusiastic teacher and keeps me interested and involved throughout the lesson, which is especially good after a hard days work.
I have had approximately 50 hours of lessons with Kent and find his teaching methods easy to understand and at a measured pace with the flexibility of increasing the level of difficulty should you require – this is what I particularly enjoy about one on one tuition.
I do not feel rushed to learn Mandarin and I am comfortable in knowing that I am slowly picking up vocabulary, sentence structures and phrases as time goes by – ideally I would prefer using the language in mainland China, however my current employment unfortunately does not allow me.
I would fully recommend Kent as a native mandarin teacher whether either to teach groups or as a one on one tutor – I hope you get as much enjoyment out of the lessons as I have thus far and will gladly be a point of reference should you wish any further information.
